Believe it or not, Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat, an ignominious elimination from the King's Cup, with Albacete, a team that plays in the second Spanish league, eliminating them in the round of 16. On the day of his debut, Alvaro Arbeloa learns a bitter lesson, a sudden defeat that immediately puts his future at the helm of Real in serious doubt.

Arbeloa made an almost total rotation in this match, a decision that cost him dearly, as Albacete not only did not "steal" anything, but were the first to take the lead in the 42nd minute with a beautiful header from Villar. Real responded in almost the same way, where during the developments of a corner kick they tied the scores at 1-1 at the end of the first half.

Arbeloa intervened in the formation in the second half, but again spared all the team's stars. Albacete surprised them again in the 82nd minute when Betancor once again gave the home team the advantage. Real created the illusion that they would finally solve everything, avoid this serious elimination, at least send it to extra time, as Gonzalo Garcia equalized in the 91st minute. This challenge had no end, as Albacete caught "checkmate" Real in the 94th minute when Betancor with a beautiful goal shocked the Spanish giants by eliminating them from the King's Cup, a dream ending for a small team like Albacete.

Almost with tears in his eyes, Arbeloa admitted failure, but believes his team can react quickly: "In this club, even a draw is ugly, a tragedy, let alone an elimination like this, against a team that plays in an inferior league. I take full responsibility for this elimination. Is this a failure? I am not afraid of failure, failure is part of the path to success. We are still in the game in La Liga and the Champions League," Arbeloa expressed, among others.
