Recruitment for voluntary military service has begun in France.
The country's Defense Minister, Catherine Vautrin, said this at a press conference.
"Today we begin accepting new volunteers to join our armed forces," she said.
General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Army, noted that participants in the program will only serve within the country.
It should be noted that previously, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that voluntary military service will be introduced in the country from the summer of 2026. The service period will be 10 months and will include young people aged 18 to 19.
