The community of residents living on Balshajve Street will soon have a redeveloped area that will meet their demands for urbanization and development. During the inspection of investments in Kodër – Kamëz, the acting Mayor of Tirana, Anuela Ristani, said that through the implementation of this project, safer spaces have been created for residents, putting an end to flooding in this area.
"We are here at the coal mine area in Kodër-Kamzë, an area that has been completely informal, from sewers to every other type of road safety element. Now, not only have all the flood systems that often occurred been made, since the collector had to be built from scratch, but there are all the road safety elements. Elements that, unfortunately, are not found in all our neighborhoods, but for every new investment, we have made sure that they exist," declared Ristani.
For the acting Mayor of Tirana, this intervention is a very large investment, as there are about 2000 meters of road, 1500 of which are only sidewalks and the rest is the car part. "We are also arranging the circulation of all segments, because we are talking about several blocks of buildings, where the passage will be done once from one side to the other and from one side to the other, so that the sidewalk crossings are not obstructed and the road for circulation is not obstructed," said Ristani.
She further emphasized that this investment directly impacts the improvement of the quality of life in the suburbs of Tirana. "This is one of several investments that Administrative Unit No. 11 has, to rehabilitate not only what is a very burdened infrastructure, - due to all the development that has been done without the "backbone" of the road network and the systematization of white and black waters -, but also to increase the quality and awareness of the community, in the way we communicate, in the way we give space to each other and in the way we share the common space", concluded Anuela Ristani.
The project aims to completely transform the infrastructure in one of the north-western areas of Tirana, bordered by the streets “Kastriotët”, “Ali Ibra” and “Hasan Vathi”. The intervention includes the complete reconstruction of the road network, the construction of new sidewalks, sewage and rainwater drainage, the installation of LED lighting, vertical and horizontal road signage, as well as greening and urban decoration with decorative trees, benches, waste bins and bicycle parking. This investment aims to improve the quality of life of residents, increase security and accessibility, and provide modern standards of public services in the area.
