A new development in military technology has been reported in the war in Ukraine, where a drone designed to transport heavy loads has sent an unmanned ground vehicle into an area behind Russian front lines.

According to Forbes magazine, this is the first known case in a combat operation where a robotic system has transported another robotic system to the battlefield.

The drone has received an ARK-1 unmanned ground vehicle, equipped with an anti-tank mine, enabling the placement of military equipment in dangerous areas without exposing human troops to danger.

This method aims to solve one of the main limitations of terrestrial robots, which is related to mobility and the ability to travel long distances over difficult terrain.

While the United States has been testing similar concepts for years, they have so far remained largely in the experimental stage. Ukraine, on the other hand, is accelerating the use of unmanned systems and is considering the possibility of replacing a significant portion of its frontline forces with robotic vehicles.

Experts consider this development as another indicator of the changing nature of modern warfare, where aerial drones and ground robots are taking on increasingly larger roles in military operations.
