A group of tourists experienced moments of panic in Guatemala after finding themselves near the eruption of the Volcán de Fuego volcano, one of the most active in the world, facing a "rain" of hot rocks falling from the crater.

Footage recorded by visitors shows the moment the volcano begins to erupt, with members of the group forced to run away to escape the fiery rocks. One of the tourists, Anna Garcia, said that pieces of hot rock burned her jacket and that one of them passed very close to her head.

"The volcano erupted and I only managed to film a small part. When I looked up, I saw rocks falling and I was terrified. Then I started running," she said, describing the event as an unforgettable, but at the same time extremely scary, experience.

According to researchers, Volcán de Fuego is almost constantly active, producing small eruptions of gas and ash every 15 to 20 minutes. Historically, the volcano has erupted more than 60 times since 1524. One of the most tragic events occurred on June 3, 2018, when lava flows buried entire settlements, causing over 100 deaths. During that eruption, the ash column rose to about 33 thousand meters in height and was visible even from space.
