Ukrainian officials said at least three people were killed in overnight Russian strikes targeting residential buildings in the eastern city of Kramatorsk.

The attacks included heavy bombs, weapons that Russia has used to destroy both Ukrainian frontline positions and residential areas.

Nearly 20 people were injured in the early morning attacks, the National Police reported. In total, Russia launched more than 400 drones and missiles at locations across the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

In a post on Telegram, he stressed that Russian weapons continue to be equipped with parts and components imported from abroad, while announcing new measures aimed at cutting off supplies of these parts.

Along with Sloviansk, Kramatorsk is one of two major cities that Ukraine still controls in the eastern Donetsk region. Both are considered "fortress cities," essential for Ukraine's defense in the region.

Russia has made capturing the entire Donetsk region a strategic priority, a point it has repeatedly emphasized in ongoing peace talks brokered by the United States.

Throughout this winter, Russia has relentlessly targeted civilian housing across Ukraine, as well as the country's power grid and heating facilities.

Millions of people in the capital Kiev and other cities have faced power or heating cuts, as the cold has gripped the country for weeks.
