The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has officially placed Democratic Party MP Luan Baçi under investigation. The case against him was registered based on a criminal complaint filed in February 2024 by his former business partner, Aredin Behari.

According to the indictment submitted to the prosecution, Behari accuses the opposition MP of money laundering and concealment of assets worth 1.5 million euros. The alleged financial activity and concealment of capital, according to the accuser, occurred during the period 2010–2012.

With the opening of this investigation, the financial investigation structures at SPAK are expected to verify asset declarations, balance sheets of commercial enterprises, and bank account movements conducted during those years.

"I hired a lawyer because I didn't want to speak for myself. It's the same procedure. A former partner of mine, a citizen of Hallex, sold the shares in a joint venture in 2010 and left, and after 16 years he remembered to file a complaint with SPAK. We are in civil proceedings at the Vlora Court for the reasons he claims that his wife was not present at the sale of the shares. The wife has filed a complaint with both the partner and me. Today I was taken as a person under investigation, no criminal offense has been reported to me," he told the media in front of the SPAK premises.
