SPAK has ordered the search of the apartment of the former director of the State Police, Ilir Proda.
The news has been confirmed for "BalkanWeb”And“News24" by journalist Klodiana Lala, who announced that the SPAK action began in the early hours of the morning and also includes other senior officials.
Journalist Klodiana Lala reported details from the action, this exclusive news, that prosecutors have assessed that evidence and facts related to the investigation may be found during the search of the apartment.
"It turns out that a search of the home of the former director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, has been ordered. Proda led the Police for more than two years and strong ties with Ergys Agas have been alluded to," Lala declared.
She added that the examination of phones after the arrest of Ergys Agas is suspected of providing prosecutors with data related to other individuals and the ongoing investigation.
According to sources cited by the journalist, the action was not limited to Proda, but also involved other people at high levels of the administration. Because the operation is still ongoing, full details on the people and the object of the checks have not been made public.
Lala emphasized that these are people against whom public accusations have previously been raised by the Albanian opposition for suspected connections with people involved in criminal activity.
However, these are allegations that must be proven in court and do not constitute proven guilt.
"These are people accused by the Albanian opposition of having connections with people in a criminal group. These are serious facts if proven by a court decision," said the journalist.
Checks on former State Police directors are not unprecedented, but according to Lala, previous cases have been related to other issues and not necessarily to suspicions of links to criminal groups.
SPAK is expected to provide more information in the future, while the action and controls are still ongoing.
