Former DP MP, Myslim Murrizi, has harshly criticized the party's leadership on the show "Kjo Javë" on News24, focusing on recent exclusions and the debate over the term "self-exclusion".
Murrizi described this practice as unacceptable and similar to models from the communist past. “This style of exclusion reminds me of the Koçi Xoxe variant and hostile groups, which I don’t like at all,” he said.
According to him, the DP statute does not provide for exemptions, but only the status of membership. “There is no exemption in the statute. You are a member or you have ceased to be a member. There is no place for formal exemptions,” Murrizi stressed, adding that even the term “self-exclusion”, recently used in the case of Ervin Salianji, does not appear in the party’s official documents.
He also mentioned specific cases of exclusions in various branches, such as in Elbasan and Durrës, questioning the way in which the party structures are being administered.
Murrizi then focused on the expected developments in the National Assembly, expressing skepticism about real changes. “If we offer the same thing to Albanians, the result will be the same,” he said.
Regarding the race for party leadership, he declared that he will not run if Sali Berisha is in the race. "We are not on equal terms. There is no chance that anyone will take the party from Berisha as long as he is running," Murrizi said, emphasizing that Berisha's influence in the party remains dominant.
Finally, he added that the role in the opposition is a difficult mission and that he is not motivated by personal interests or political gains.
"What I have seen with reservations is this style of exclusions like the variant of Koci Xoxe and hostile groups that I do not like at all. In the DP statute, the exclusion article has been removed, there is no exception. There are no exceptions, you are a member or you have ceased to be a member. Two ladies in Elbasan, two in Durrës, I did not know their names before. Self-exclusion is the latest variant, from Facebook, there is none. It is curved, but it is not in the statute. Read the DP statute, I do not know why they call Salianji that and who offered Berisha that variant in the statute. There is no self-exclusion", he said.
