Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi has denounced a situation he describes as scandalous at Lushnja Hospital, warning of a serious risk to the lives of employees and patients.
In a reaction on social media, Korreshi states that he has been made aware of several documents and reports from employees of the oxygen department, which, according to him, show a significant lack of technical safety conditions. According to the letter dated December 13, 2024, specialists have warned of maximum risk and the possibility of a catastrophe due to the conditions in the medical gases department.
The documents also mention previous incidents, including bomb explosions and damage to the distribution network, where the lives of employees were allegedly endangered. Employees have also raised concerns about a lack of firefighting equipment and the storage of bombs outside of safe technical conditions.
The MP points out that, despite previous disciplinary measures against the head of the department, he was reappointed to the position in 2025, which according to him has increased concerns about safety at the hospital.
Korreshi has requested an investigation by law enforcement agencies and intervention by the Ministry of Health to verify the situation and determine responsibilities.
The Denunciation of Korresh
Scandal at Lushnja Hospital.
A serious scandal has occurred and continues to occur at Lushnja Hospital, bordering on drama, where the lives of Oxygen workers, as well as patients and their families, are at risk.
I have been made aware of several disturbing reports and documents which I am publishing below where the employees of the oxygen department at Lushnja Hospital have informed the Director and the entire management team of this hospital about the serious consequences and the great drama that is occurring with the technical security conditions and more specifically:
With letter no. Prot. 1932 dated 13.12.2024, the specialists of the oxygen department are addressed for the reason that "Presentation of the technical situation in the Lushnje hospital in the medical gases department (oxygen nitrogen) where technical safety rules do not exist and the risk is at maximum limits where at any time we are faced with a catastrophe with unforeseen consequences"
They continue in their letter about the breakdowns and the consequences that occurred, up to the explosions of the 2 m high bombs that endangered the lives of the workers. The fire that took place also melted the regulators and the flame was brought under control by the workers.
They write to the Director of Patronage that there is no trace of the fire.
They complain that the oxygen cylinders are stored outside the technical safety conditions and at increased risk. The warehouse that serves for their storage is closed and is not opened by the person in charge, who is the one who beat the doctor at the Lushnja Hospital and a friend of the patronizing Director.
With the pressure of the bombs, there is a risk of the hospital collapsing. A tragedy that has been warned.
With letter no. Prot. 1938 dated 16.12.2024, the Oxygen specialists address the Director for Defect Finding.
Where they also reported the explosion that occurred on 14.12.2024, a powerful explosion that is said to have damaged the technician and the entire distribution network, where the life of a specialist was also endangered. They demanded the purchase of fire extinguishers and the release of the warehouse. The explosion of the cylinder is said to have come from a very worn valve and luckily the other cylinders were empty. It raises concerns about the head of finance, Bedrie Greca, who has not planned the necessary funds.
With letter no. 1974 dated 20. 12. 2024, it was requested that Altin Alla, the director's friend, should no longer be responsible for the problems found in the oxygen department.
On 26.12.2024, the former director of the Hospital issued a warning measure with notice of dismissal to Altin Allen and dismissed him as oxygen manager.
With the arrival of Patronagesist Roland Ziu as Hospital Director on 27.02.2025 with No. Prot 62, he reappointed, albeit with restraint, Altin Allen, who was again responsible for oxygen, even after the previously announced dramas.
The voices continue to say that the replacement of the oxygen pipes from the building to be repaired (7 months old and broken because the building permit was not issued) to the improved emergency building are the same except for the paint, even though there was a tender for these. But that's for another time.
This scandal cannot go uninvestigated and accountability must be held, so I appeal to the Minister of Health and law enforcement agencies to investigate the case.
