A passenger train has derailed near Lewes railway station in East Sussex, southern England. Several carriages have overturned, with passengers reportedly trapped inside. The incident happened at around 15:54 p.m. local time, and emergency and rescue teams are immediately on the scene.

According to Sky News reports, there have been no casualties so far, while the injured are not reported to be in serious condition. However, the rescue operation continues to extract people who remain trapped on the train.


Photos posted on social media show overturned carriages and damage to the tracks, as emergency crews work at the scene of the accident.


The incident occurred on a day when Britain is experiencing its highest temperatures of the year, with thermometers reaching 38°C in some areas. The causes of the train derailment are not yet known and are expected to be investigated by authorities.
