A person sentenced to 2 years in prison for corruption by the Criminal Court of Kosovo (GJKKO) has received another measure of "Arrest in prison" from the Saranda Court, after he was caught drunk driving and disobeying police orders.
The incident is said to have occurred on the evening of September 6 in Ksamil when citizen Kristi Zyka was found driving a “Jeep” type vehicle with foreign license plates 2FTA413, which he had parked on the sidewalk, near a lamppost. According to the service report, police officers approached and asked the persons in the vehicle for their identification documents, but they refused. The driver of the vehicle moved the vehicle backwards at this moment and the police officers stopped him from leaving. The driver of the vehicle introduced himself as Kristi Zyka and got into the passenger side of the vehicle and citizen AH, who turns out to be a construction businessman, got into the driver’s seat, moving the car forward and taking it to where it was parked from the beginning, near the lamppost. Since the persons were still not obeying, they were escorted to the premises of the Saranda Police Commissariat. At the premises of the Saranda Police Station, citizen Kristi Zyko underwent an alcohol test, where the first test resulted in a level of 0.65 mg/l and the second test 0.54 mg/l.
Kristi Zyka was in the status of a convict, serving a prison sentence in the Rrogozhina Penitentiary Institution on account of decision no. 7, dated 25.1.2025 of the GJKKO, according to which he was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", committed in collaboration, as provided for by article 259/2 and 25 of the Criminal Code. According to order no. 7932, dated 4.9.2026, the arrested Kristi Zyko had benefited from the rewarding leave from 11:30 on 4.9.2026 until 11:30 on 11.9.2026. Three days after the incident, Zyko appeared before the Court of Saranda, where the Prosecutor's request was accepted and the security measure "Arrest in Prison" was imposed on him for "Irregular Driving" and "Disobedience to the order of a public order police officer."
