The anti-government protest has marked its 80th day today, with citizens continuing to gather in the square demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of his government.

Also participating in the protest was art professor Everest Ymeraj, who said that this is the 80th day that he has been participating in the rallies and that he will continue to be part of the protest until the last days. Ymeraj stated for News24 that the protesters also demand respect for human rights and laws, while calling on citizens to put aside divisions and unite in the face of the problems that, according to him, affect Albanian society.

"This is my 80th day participating and I will be part of the protest until the last days. Every day I demand that human rights and laws be respected. Our concerns are universal. We must understand each other's troubles and put aside jealousy and anger.
"Our demand is the non-negotiable resignation of Edi Rama. The civil and institutional crisis in Albania is urgent. State offices are not functioning," said Ymeraj.

He also touched on the situation of artists, stating that many of them feel insulted and discouraged. Ymeraj expressed regret for the absence of some of his colleagues at the protest and invited them to react.

"Many artists are insulted, discouraged. I am sorry that many of my colleagues are not in the square. I call on them to react to evil. They are afraid to participate in protests, because they are also afraid of being prejudiced," he declared.

Finally, the professor warned that September is expected to bring even greater mobilization, particularly highlighting the participation of young people.

"September will be powerful, the youth will come. I appeal to you that if we do not react today, tomorrow will be too late. It is the most favorable opportunity to remove an evil," said Everest Ymeraj.
