Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić warned that his country will "increase the number" of Chinese CM-400 missiles, as well as purchase new military aircraft.
He made these statements during a military exercise and presentation of the Serbian Army's weaponry.
The event was organized on June 28 at the military airport in Batajnica, near Belgrade, and at the Pasulanske Livade training ground in central Serbia, on the occasion of the state and religious holiday of Vidovdan.
During the exercise, the capabilities of artillery and missile units for air defense were demonstrated, as well as the operations of aviation, tank units, infantry, mechanized units, artillery and drones.
Previously, at the "Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović" military airport in Batajnica, Vučić visited the exhibition of military equipment and weapons, where CM-400 missiles were also exhibited, which Serbia purchased from China in March.
"CM-400s are scary missiles. We will increase their number," Vucic said.
Despite warnings from Brussels and Washington, Serbia has continued to deepen military cooperation with China.
According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in the period 2020–2024, Serbia imported the majority of weapons from China (57 percent), followed by Russia (20 percent) and France (7.4 percent).
