The new Serie A 2026/27 calendar is just around the corner. Tomorrow, Friday 5 June, the calendar for the next championship will be revealed. The algorithm that will compile the 38 weeks of the season will take into account four important innovations.

dates

The championship will start on August 23, 2026 and will end on the weekend of May 29-30, 2027. The new calendar will also have to adapt to the national team holidays, which have been reorganized: the first interruption will mean that two weeks of the championship will not take place (September 27 and October 4), while the other two interruptions, according to the classic format with a week of rest, will take place in mid-November and at the end of March.

Two midweek breaks are also planned: on October 28, 2026 and January 6, 2027. A Christmas break is also planned for December 26 and 27.

Changes

To avoid complicated situations like the one in the penultimate week of last season, when the Rome derby took place at the same time as the Masters 1000 tournament at the Foro Italico, the algorithm will also take into account the biggest tennis events in Italy: the ATP Finals in Turin and the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome.

For this reason, the respective city derbies will not be able to take place during these events:

  • Juventus – Torino in Turin;
  • Lazio – Rome in Rome.

Likewise, derbies will not be scheduled in weeks 37 and 38 of the championship.

The latest innovation is related to European cups: teams participating in different European competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) will not be able to face each other in the weeks that fall between two consecutive weeks of cup matches.

Where and when will the calendar be presented?

The 2026/27 Serie A calendar will be officially presented tomorrow, Friday 5 June, at 18:30, at the Teatro Regio in Parma, as part of the Serie A Festival.
