Ecuador defender Mario Pineida died a few days ago after being shot in Guayaquil.
Local media reported that 33-year-old Pineida was shot on Wednesday by two men on motorcycles who opened fire on him, while his mother and another woman were present, at a store in the north of the city.
Recently, a video of the execution has also been released.
Guayaquil has become a hotspot for gangs and drug trafficking, with 1,900 murders recorded between January and September, the highest in Ecuador.
