Colombia's Jaminton Campaz has received death threats after missing a golden opportunity to score against Switzerland in the 115th minute. His World Cup goal could have secured qualification.

In the 1994 World Cup, it was Andres Escobar who caused an own goal, while the World Cup was taking place in America. The 2-1 loss to the USA was billed to him. Not only because of the own goal, but Escobar was shot dead a few days later outside a bar in Medellin.

"Infobae" indicates that Kampaz has been threatened, and this can also be seen from his message after the elimination. There is no doubt that fear exists. That is why he made the drastic decision not to be included in the flight with the team to return home.

"Since I was little, I have dreamed of defending the colors of Colombia, hearing the national anthem, representing millions of people and scoring a goal in a World Cup. Today I can only thank God for giving me the opportunity to realize this dream. They are memories that I will carry with me forever."

I want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who was with us during this World Cup, those who believed in us, supported us until the last minute and never stopped believing. Thank you also to my family, who has been my strength every step of the way and has stood by me in both the happiest and the most difficult moments.

For my entire country, I can only say that I share the pain of this elimination. We too dreamed of moving forward and I know well the sadness that we feel today as Colombians. I am deeply sorry that I was not able to give you the joy that we were all waiting for, but I want you to know that we never lacked dedication, commitment and love for this shirt. I gave everything I had on the field and I would do it again, a thousand times, for my country.

Football is also made up of difficult moments. Today, all we have to do is learn, get up and keep working to come back even stronger.

"My Colombia, please let us never lose respect for each other. We may think differently, feel disappointment or sadness, but no passion justifies hatred and living in fear," was the footballer's message yesterday.
