A video circulating on social media has reignited the debate over how military conscription is implemented in Ukraine. The footage, whose authenticity has not been independently confirmed, allegedly shows several men in military uniforms attempting to force a 19-year-old man out of a vehicle.
In the video, the young man appears to be trying to stay inside the car as several people pull him out. Another person, believed to be his partner, tries to keep the young man inside the vehicle. It is not yet known where or when the incident was filmed, and the identities of the people involved have not been confirmed.
The footage was shared at a time when debate continues in Ukraine over the way mobilization is carried out and accusations of some recruitment structures using force against people called up for military service. The term used in the Ukrainian public debate relates to allegations of cases where people of mobilization age are detained in public places, sometimes by force, and then transported to recruitment centers in vehicles, mainly minibuses.
The issue has become particularly sensitive due to Ukraine's huge need for troops, while the war with Russia continues. On the other hand, accusations of violations of citizens' rights during the mobilization process have been repeatedly raised. According to data cited by Ukrainska Pravda, since the beginning of the Russian occupation, about 12 thousand complaints of violations of rights during the mobilization process have been registered.
In January 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the new Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, to address problems related to the recruitment process and continue reforms. The latest video is expected to increase public pressure for transparency on how mobilization is carried out, although without independent verification of the footage it is impossible to determine with certainty what happened in this case.
