Unlike coach Silvinjo, who preferred a 4-3-3 formation, Maran has a formation that suits some of Albania's key players. The Italian coach also prefers to play with the "10" midfielder, in which case there could be more space for Muçi, but also for Bajram to return to his preferred position.

The scheme that the Italian coach usually uses is the 4-3-1-2, where there will be four defenders, 3 midfielders and the attack will be composed of a midfielder with attacking features and two center forwards. In Maran's case, the two wing forwards are out of the game, which in fact have often been improvisations during Silvinho's time.
