Socialist candidate José Seguro, according to polls, is leading with 63% of the vote in the presidential elections held today in Portugal, out of 67% of votes counted.
On the other hand, his opponent, André Ventura, is reported to have received 37% of the vote.
In the first round of elections three weeks ago, Seguro received the most votes with 31%, but fell short of the absolute majority needed to win.
The President of Portugal enjoys extensive powers, including the right to veto laws, dissolve Parliament, and call early elections.
