Journalist Ermal Peçi has analyzed political developments in the country, focusing on government corruption scandals, the scandal of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, and the situation in the Democratic Party.
During the interview, he stated that Rama is trying to hold Belinda Balluku "with his nails." Journalist Peçi underlined that the more Prime Minister Rama tries to protect Balluku, the more pressure he will face, both from public opinion and from internationals.
He also added that according to him, SPAK is the prime minister's 'enemy' despite the latter trying in every way not to release Balluk.
"Today, you can attack Rama for corruption at AKSHI, for the way he is trying to hold Ms. Balluku back, to prevent SPAK from acting. In all these years, we have only seen corruption and the tenders are simply a false competition, and these are some points where Mr. Rama can be hit," he said, adding: "Even when SPAK tells him that Balluku is intimidating witnesses and destroying evidence, Rama is holding him back. And this does not hold true. So Ms. Balluku herself signed, from the beginning of January, where somewhere around 80 million euros were distributed. So it is clearly understood that Rama is giving her political protection. SPAK wants the Mandates Commission to convene to act and it is not happening, and I think this will produce a clash between institutions. The more Rama protects her, the more pressure there will be on Rama, from public opinion but also internationals."
He also added that the Democratic Party is in a deadlock today and has fallen into its own trap.
"The opposition is trapped by its own creativity. The opposition is powerless, but it also cannot exert pressure on Mr. Rama. This government is corrupt and SPAK has proven this to us. When Berisha returned, he said that he would defeat Rama in 6 months, he said that he would be removed as non grata and that the DP would be the future of this country. But so far the DP is more divided," he said.
