Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku, during the plenary session, spoke out against the legal proposal for tourist ports that foresees their allocation within the framework of strategic investments.
In her speech, Tabaku emphasized that the draft law should not be seen as a technical initiative, but as part of a decision-making model that, according to her, has replaced competition with exceptions and public interest with concentrated favors.
"The problem is not in the wording of an article, but in the logic and model on which this system operates," she said, adding that the law is part of a series of initiatives that, according to the opposition, have favored certain interests.
Tabaku argued that this draft law formalizes a practice where strategic investments benefit from public assets, fiscal incentives, and now even access to strategic infrastructure, without competitive procedures.
According to her, this approach contradicts the principles of the free market and the commitments that Albania has within the framework of European integration. She mentioned that the draft law affects several chapters of the acquis communautaire, as well as the Stabilization and Association Agreement.
"We cannot talk about European integration while mechanisms are being built that exclude competition and centralize decision-making," Tabaku declared.
The DP MP also raised concerns about the procedure for approving the law, emphasizing that it was reviewed and approved in a very short time, without a broad parliamentary debate.
In conclusion, she emphasized that the Albanian economy needs clear rules and fair competition, warning that the current model, according to her, risks damaging business and the country's economic development.
