Journalist Almer Toska, invited to the studio News24, has reacted sharply to what it described as an "unprecedented attack" by the tax administration on businesses linked to the "Hysenbelliu Group", claiming that the actions are related to media investigations linked to the group.

During his speech, Toska stated that he was informed that the General Directorate of Taxes has undertaken controls and measures against the businesses of the television owner, linking this to reports and investigations conducted by the media.

"I was informed today that News24 and the businesses of the owner who owns them, Taxes have been attacked because this television, the best news channel in Albania, today has a value of 80 million euros if we put it on the stock market. It does journalism, opposition, factual truth, but the Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj does not like these,” he said.

The journalist mentioned Finance Minister Petrit Malaj, as well as Tax Director Erilinda Lala, who he said are exerting pressure on businesses related to television.

"These people don't like the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, who has a pickpocket in his pocket, the Director of Taxes, Erilinda Lala, who comes and imposes fines on the businesses of this television to hinder free speech. They want to hinder any investigation that highlights their atrocities," declared Toska.

He further warned that he would seek a response from international partners on this issue.

"As long as the media in this country is threatened, I will ask the American embassy to declare Erilinda Lala and Petrit Malaj 'non grata' for violating the media and free speech, for violating, threatening a media that is a national asset as well."
