Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that he had a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, where the focus was on the tense situation in the Gulf region.
In a post on the X platform, Sharif said that during the conversation he shared with Pezeshkian details of his recent contacts with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.
He also praised the Iranian delegation's participation in the talks held earlier in Islamabad, describing them as "historic", as well as the recent discussions with military commander Asim Munir in Tehran.
Sharif stressed that Pakistan remains committed to playing a mediating role in favor of regional peace and stability, at a time of high tensions in the Middle East.
