The poetic evening "A Glass for Dori" took place at the premises of the Ethnographic Museum in Durrës, an activity organized by the "Aleksandër Moisiu" Theater troupe, dedicated to the poet, writer and publicist Teodor Keko.
The evening brought to attention the creativity of one of the most unique voices of Albanian literature, through the stage interpretation of poems by actors Mimoza Marjanaku, Ervin Doko, Era Çaushi, Romir Zalla, Adelina Muça, Jaho Guma, Suela Bako, Marvin Tafaj and Alesia Xhemalaj. The audience experienced an atmosphere filled with emotion, where poetry became a bridge between memory and art, honoring the work and literary legacy of Teodor Keko.
Actor Romir Zalla said that returning to Teodor Keko's poetry always remains a special experience, especially for the poems dedicated to the author's wife, which, according to him, carry a rare sensitivity. He praised the organization of such activities, emphasizing that figures like Teodor Keko deserve to be constantly remembered for their contribution to literature, culture and public life.
Amidst the emotions, the poet's wife, Xhuli Keko, described this activity as the most beautiful way to commemorate Dori, on the eve of the 24th anniversary of his passing and his birthday on September 2. She said that, although the pain remains ever present, such assessments keep his memory alive. Xhuli Keko also announced that the time has come for the publication of Teodor Keko's selected works, thus concluding the publication of the literary legacy he left behind.
"I feel very emotional, it is the most beautiful memorial that can be given to Dori on the 24th anniversary of her departure, this is Dori's month as her birthday is on September 2nd."
The pain is inside me, but I'm used to losing, after returning from the Netherlands I feel it a lot.
It's a pleasure to hear Dori's poems from the Durrës troupe.
"I think the moment has come for the chosen work, I'm working on it, it's the right moment to close it," she said.
Teodor Keko was one of the most prominent figures in Albanian literature of the 80s and 90s. Known for his direct style, subtle irony and human sensitivity, he left an important mark as a poet, prose writer, publicist and politician. During his lifetime, he published several volumes of poetry, stories and novels, while other works from his work were published after his death. In addition to literature, Teodor Keko was also involved in Albanian political life in the early years of pluralism, serving as a member of parliament. However, he remains above all appreciated for his literary creativity, which continues to be read and interpreted today.
