A memorial session was held in the Kosovo Assembly in honor of former US Congressman Eliot Engel, who passed away a few days ago. Engel is widely remembered as one of the most vocal supporters of Kosovo in the American political scene. A photograph of him was placed near the rostrum in the Assembly hall, while representatives of institutions and MPs expressed gratitude for his role in supporting Kosovo during the difficult years.

The Speaker of the Assembly and Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, said that Engel remains remembered as a strong voice in defense of Kosovo at a time when, according to her, the people of Kosovo faced repression and a lack of international response. Prime Minister Albin Kurti also praised Engel as a sincere friend of Albanians and a figure who, as he said, did not hesitate to support human rights and the cause of Kosovo in decisive moments.

Kurti also recalled Engel's visits to Kosovo, including the opening of the US information office in Pristina in the 90s and then the inauguration of the United States Embassy in Kosovo in a now free and independent Kosovo.
He also cited Engel's previous statements, where the latter expressed support for Kosovo's integration into international organizations such as the UN and NATO, emphasizing his continued commitment to the country's international affirmation.
