The pollution of the Fan River from waste dumped into its course by the "BERALB" copper enrichment company in Fushë-Arrëz is at alarming levels, so the Representative of the Catholic Church, Frat Adreas Walterman, has sent an open letter to Prime Minister Rama, asking him to solve this major problem for the community.

In an interview for News24, Frat Adreas Walterman says that the Fan River is dead, as its water cannot be used by residents even to irrigate agricultural lands, adding that the situation has remained the same for 18 years.

Although the reaction after addressing the letter to the Prime Minister was immediate, with a group of inspectors going to the area and fining the company "BERALB" for the pollution caused, Frat Andreas said that the solution is not only administrative punishment, but requires the state to take measures on the ground to clean the river.

Frat Adreas also praised the national protest that has been taking place for 2 weeks in Tirana, adding that the concreting of the country is driving away tourists.

Among other things, the German priest who has been serving in Albania for 18 years calls on the Ministry of Environment to take measures to protect nature, emphasizing that Albania is not worth selling.
