Following the request of the Specialist Chambers' Prosecution Office that four former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, be sentenced to 45 years in prison each, Albanian MP Mehmeti Selimi, who is also Rexhep Selimi's wife, has reacted.

Through a post on social media, she writes: "Holy KLA! Holy is the freedom for which we fought and shed blood. Our history is not rewritten. Justice for the liberators!"

Her statement comes as the final phase of the trial of former KLA leaders began today, with the Public Prosecutor's Office seeking their conviction for war crimes and crimes against humanity, including around 100 deaths and numerous abuses in camps controlled by the KLA during and after the war. Closing arguments will be held from 9 to 18 February, with the defence team taking the floor after the Prosecution, and the defendants at the end.
