The condoms distributed to athletes in the Olympic village of Cortina have completely run out. This is another side of "Milano-Cortina 2026": The Winter Games have not "cooled" the athletes' passions at all.
There are those who, like 24-year-old Sophia Kirkby, a star of the United States of America's sledding sport, have in recent days started a kind of "casting" on social networks to find a date during the Games. With Valentine's Day on the horizon, romantic encounters have increased, in a way that the organizers apparently had not foreseen. An athlete, asking to remain anonymous, confirmed to the newspaper "La Stampa": "The stocks ran out in just three days. They promised us that they would bring more, but who knows when," the Olympian confessed.
Thus, in Cortina they are facing an unforeseen problem. We recall that two years ago, at the Summer Olympics "Paris 2024", athletes were given 300 thousand condoms (about two per day for each). Meanwhile, in the Olympic villages, athletes are said to have to use their imagination to find time for intimacy. In Milan, visits to the accommodations of athletes from other countries are said to be prohibited. For this reason, the relaxation room has become quite popular: with dim lights, music and, above all, with partitions behind which you can hide to spend a moment of peace, alone or in company.
In Cortina, Sophia Kirkby has once again been in the spotlight: "I'm looking for a date for Valentine's Day. I'm not just looking for other Olympians for coffee," she wrote on social media, also addressing her fans. Meanwhile, between training and ceremonies, the search for her soulmate continues, as the 24-year-old American has confessed.
