White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said President Donald Trump is "preserving and generously offering some flexibility to a regime that has been completely tarnished," referring to the recent extension of the ceasefire.

"This is a battle between pragmatists and hardliners in Iran right now, and the president wants a unified response," she said.

Leavitt went on to say that Trump has not set a precise deadline for receiving the Iranian proposal.

"Ultimately, the timeline will be dictated by the commander-in-chief and the president of the United States," she added.

Leavitt also emphasizes that “Operation Economic Fury” continues, with the “effective and successful” US naval blockade of Iranian ships and ports continuing.

She claims that the US is "completely suffocating" Iran's economy.
