It is unacceptable to use the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for political and economic pressure on the world community.

This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Foreign Ministry stated that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital passage for approximately one-fifth of global energy supply and plays an important role in international trade.

"We strongly reject the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic coercion or blackmail and call for a collective international response, as this is economic warfare and piracy that extends beyond the region and affects the global economy as a whole," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the UAE is closely monitoring the situation in the region against the backdrop of a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran and affirms the importance of obtaining further clarification on the provisions of the agreement to ensure Iran's full commitment to an immediate cessation of all military operations in the region.
