The national anthem of Kosovo today marks 18 years since its approval in the 120-member Assembly that declared independence on February 17, 2008.
The proposal with the number "Europa" was approved on June 11, 2008 in a special session as the national anthem with 72 votes in favor, 15 against and 5 abstentions.
When the melody by author Mendi Mengjiqi was proposed, the anthem also had written lyrics, but due to restrictions from former President Martti Ahtisaari's package, the selection committee was forced to remove the lyrics. /KosovaPress/
