The show "On Target" on News24 has today brought the testimonies of key individuals in the disappearance of businessman Eduart Belegu in March 2010. Immediately after the discovery of businessman Belegu's vehicle, prosecutor Eugen Beçi authorized the surveillance and wiretapping of all persons suspected of being involved in the incident, which was classified as a kidnapping.
For this purpose, it was decided to monitor and eavesdrop on all persons entering and exiting the apartment of citizen Eduard Belegu, a three-story villa on the outskirts of Tirana.
Likewise, it was deemed reasonable to intercept in public places by means of photography, audio and video recording, the movements of persons who could be possible perpetrators of the kidnapping and disappearance of Eduard Belegu, in order to obtain the necessary information for the identification and location of citizen Eduart Belegu.
The prosecution authorized the detention of Beleg's family members during the wiretapping. Meanwhile, the investigative body continued its work on wiretapping and collecting evidence from Edmond Beleg's partners.
In a spiral of threads that led to many names and affairs where the missing character himself was connected.
In some parallel world between power, money, accusations of corruption, and a possible crime that came as a result of powerful interests where he could have trespassed.
At the same time, the Prosecution also began verifying the statements of businessman Thanas Gjinopulli, the last person to meet Eduart Beleg, where verification actions were carried out in the banks where he had his deposits and people who were aware of the withdrawals he had made in these banks before meeting his partner were questioned.
Likewise, other investigative actions were carried out related to the inspections and checks at Thanas Gjinopoulli's warehouse, where it was suspected that he could be a hostage, and his telephone number was monitored.
In parallel with these investigations, the prosecution also questioned Thanas Gjinopoulli's son regarding the day of the incident.
Likewise, the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office examined the registers and documentation in the office of the notary, Lindita Lleshi, to verify the claim of businessman Thanas Gjinopulli that several contracts related to the loan he had to Eduard Beleg were drawn up in this office, as well as the date of their drafting.
But despite the investigations carried out, no data or evidence was obtained to confirm the whereabouts of Eduart Beleg and the suspicions of Thanas Gjinopoulli's possible involvement in the kidnapping or disappearance of his partner.
During the investigation, the investigative group also seized and examined the vehicle in which Eduart Belegu was traveling on the day of the incident.
Where in the gray "Range Rover" vehicle with license plate TR 1412 N, two Albanian passports of Eduart Beleg, several tax receipts, a power of attorney, some notes on an A4 sheet and founding documents of the company "Re-Ebel-Xh" sh.pk were found.
But even this verification did not yield any valid evidence for further investigation of the incident.
Also during the investigations, data was obtained from mobile phone companies regarding the telephone numbers of the questioned persons, the complainant, as well as other telephone numbers that were identified during the investigation.
But even from the administration of this data, no information of interest for the investigation was obtained, which did not lead to the identification of the possible perpetrators of the criminal offense of "Kidnapping or holding a person hostage".
For this reason, just a few months after the disappearance, in September 2010, the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office closed the investigations without bringing any evidence or persons involved in the event to court, which remains enigmatic even today.
An event that at that time also culminated in political accusations, unproven before the courts, where the now deceased minister, Dritan Prifti, spoke in January 2011, by specific names, about persons involved in the high ranks of the police and politics who, according to him, were related to the disappearance of his advisor Eduart Belegu, but who were never questioned by the courts regarding these serious accusations.

For some time now, Eduart Belegu has been officially declared missing. What information do you have about him? Is your fight with Mr. Meta related to this issue?
"I am sorry that the media and the judiciary have forgotten the Belegu case. The Belegu case, if investigated to the end, i.e. the disappearance of my former advisor, could be one of the investigations of the century for this country. Mr. Belegu has not fled to any other country, as is the police version.
The police, even today, tell his family, tell us where Belegu went. The police and the prosecution have never taken seriously my public denunciation that Mr. Belegu disappeared because of others and not by himself. I am very sorry that justice has not acted, but the media has also made very little contribution. Even in the video that was shown, Mr. Meta mentions Mr. Belegu.
He had been asking me for a long time to remove Mr. Belegu, then seeing my resistance to remove him without reason, but only for the pleasure of the party chairman, I am convinced that he is also involved in the violent arrest that was made of Mr. Belegu in his office at the ministry without any reason.
"Beleg was released from prison a few weeks later and the charges were officially dropped by the Prosecution. The main suspect in Beleg's case was let off the hook by the police in America two or three weeks after the incident."
Dritan Prifti passed away in October 2017. Despite the strong accusations he made about the disappearance of his advisor, he was never called to the prosecutor's office to give explanations.
And today he cannot tell us anything about whether the accusations he made were political, or if they had some truth in them, since those who have passed away from this life have no mouth to speak.
Only 9 years after his disappearance, on March 11, 2019, the Tirana Court, at the request of his wife, declared Eduart Beleg officially dead.
Thus, acknowledging the failure of justice in solving one of the most sensational events, that of the disappearance of a businessman and advisor to the highest ranks of politics, but also leaving behind many unanswered questions about his fate. Why was this file closed and never reopened?!
Why aren't the family members speaking today, even though the staff of the show 'Në Shënjestër' contacted them?!
Will SPAK reopen this file to uncover the truth about one of the most mysterious events of the last 10 years and give us a version of what happened on March 23, 2010 with Eduard Beleg?!
