The Court of First Instance in Fier has handed down severe sentences to Laert Hasalla and Mariglen Matjani, who were found guilty of attempted assassination and illegal possession of weapons. According to the court decision, both will serve a total of 50 years in prison.

The incident occurred on March 30, 2023, when an assassination attempt was organized against Marius Hasalla as a result of a family blood feud. During the attack, his aunt, Bajame Seneja, was injured, as both were in the same vehicle.

The prosecution has determined that Laert Hasalla ordered the assassination, with the aim of eliminating Marius Hasalla. The motive was related to revenge for the murder of Romeo Hasalla, Laert Hasalla's brother, by Marius Hasalla's father.

The defendants were tried for the criminal offenses: “Murder under qualifying circumstances, committed in collaboration and in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons, attempted” and “Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”. The court imposed strict measures, emphasizing the dangerousness of the actions and their impact on public safety.

DECISION
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, citizens Laert Hasalla and MM were found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison for the criminal offenses of 'Murder under qualifying circumstances' in a manner dangerous to the lives of many persons, committed in collaboration, remaining an attempt, provided for by Article 79, letter 'ë', 25 and 22 of the Criminal Code and 'Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition' provided for by Article 278/1 of the Criminal Code.

At the end of the investigation and trial on criminal proceedings no. 150/2023, with the defendants citizens LH and MM, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Fier managed to prove that the defendant LH, in order to avenge the murder of his brother RH, collaborated with the defendant MM, to whom he ordered the physical elimination of the citizen MH. On 30.03.2023, at around 16.00, in the place called "Pisha", Garunjë village, Lushnje, the defendant MM, after being informed about the license plate of the vehicle in which the citizen RH was traveling, secured the firearm and prepared the place from which he would shoot, and shot eleven times in the direction of this vehicle. As a result of the attack, the citizen BS, a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, was injured. Citizen MH, the target of the attack, realized the attack and increased speed, enabling the vehicle to drive away.
