The couple had lived in the area for about 20 years, having moved from Levan, and were the parents of 9 children, most of whom live abroad. Only one of the sons was with them and was questioned by authorities to help solve the case. Neighboring sources indicate that the family had had ongoing conflicts over the years.
In fact, just a few days before this tragedy, the police had intervened to calm another clash between the couple. It also turns out that about 10 years ago, the elderly man had attempted suicide.
