The state-owned defense industry company, KAYO, has received millions of euros in funding from the state budget, but so far has not produced concrete results in the production or development of the military industry.

According to data from treasury payments provided by Open Spending Albania, KAYO has been contracted in 4 procedures with a total value of around 919 million lek, or approximately 9 million euros.

The funds have been used for technical and capital investments, including the purchase of vehicles, equipment and transfers for military capabilities. But despite the significant funding, the company has not yet made public any completed projects, production lines or concrete products resulting from its activity.

KAYO was established by the government last year as part of a restructuring of the defense industry, with ambitious objectives: the production, repair, demilitarization and trade of military equipment and weapons. The state-owned company has also become a shareholder in several new defense industry entities, including Guna Tactical and other companies aimed at producing tactical equipment, special vehicles and ammunition according to NATO standards.

But while the defense budget has increased significantly and new companies have been given public funds, the question of what has been produced concretely and what new capabilities have been created remains unanswered.

KAYO has received millions of public money, but so far the balance of results remains unclear.
