The Chairperson of the Culture Commission, Ina Zhupa, has officially addressed the Institute of National Cultural Heritage with a request for detailed information regarding construction developments near the Summer Villa of King Zog in Durrës. The initiative comes after public concerns about multi-storey construction in the area, which could violate the historical and architectural integrity of this ensemble of special value.

Zhupa demands transparency on every permit and project, the current protection status of the object, as well as concrete measures for its preservation, also emphasizing the need for the villa to be included in the list of cultural heritage monuments, regardless of ownership issues.

Ina Zhupa's full status:

Given the public concerns over the new multi-storey constructions at King Zog's summer villa in Durrës, I have officially addressed the Institute of National Cultural Heritage with a request for detailed information.

This villa represents an ensemble of significant historical, architectural and political value, so any intervention in the area around it or even worse in the villa itself must be treated with high responsibility and full transparency. I have requested clarification on any construction projects, the relevant approvals, the current protection status, as well as the measures taken to preserve the integrity of this object.

It is necessary for this property to be included in the list of cultural heritage monuments, regardless of private ownership.

Our historical and cultural heritage cannot be violated, it must be protected and preserved for future generations.
