Former senior director of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, on the show "Oponencë" on News24, said that the Mujeci couple were kept under surveillance by the suspected perpetrators of the murder on the day they were assassinated. According to Prenç, the perpetrators suspected that they might have been discovered and in this way one of the cars that was being pursued escaped.
"The fact that the Mujeci couple were kept under surveillance in a bar on the outskirts of the city of Lezha, having lunch. They suspected that one of the cars might have been discovered and one of the cars had fled, and this also appears in the seized videos. And surprisingly, when they were tracking the victims and when they followed and ambushed them, they were outside the police surveillance and outside the police tracking," he said.
