The meeting of judges at the Constitutional Court on the “Balluku” case concludes. The Constitutional Court decided to proceed to a session to review the appeal filed by the Council of Ministers.

Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that the judges voted 5 to 3 in favor of moving the case forward for review.

The case was appealed by the Government, after the GJKKO suspended from duty and blocked the passport of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, who was taken into custody by SPAK for abuses with tenders, such as in the case of the Llogara tunnel and the Tirana Ring Road. Meanwhile, the MP's mandate was not affected.

Balluku is accused by SPAK of interfering in procurement procedures, increasing the cost of constructing the Llogara tunnel by 50 million euros in the second tender.

Also, as strong evidence for the accusation of violating equality in tenders, SPAK prosecutors have in their possession telephone communications between Belinda Balluku and her former subordinate Evis Berberi, whom she instructs at all times to cancel the first tender (140 million euros) and develop the second (190 million euros) which the Turkish company wins.

SPAK also says that Balluku has also predetermined the tender for lot 4 of the Great Ring Road.
