The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, reacted today on Facebook by inviting citizens to participate in a protest planned for February 10, as a sign of opposition to the positions of Prime Minister Edi Rama and to defend the Constitution and the laws of the country.
In his post, Berisha described Rama's statement during today's speech as a threat to the rule of law and justice, arguing that the Constitutional Court's decision to suspend a member of the government is historic and unprecedented. He accused the prime minister of attempting to "annihilate the rule of law" and that, according to him, the government's actions endanger Albania's path towards the European Union.
Berisha called on citizens to protest peacefully, emphasizing that the action is not only for personal interest, but also for the future of the country and for Albania's European integration.
“On Tuesday, each of you protests, expresses revolt in the peaceful uprising of the opposition, not only for yourself, but for your children, for Albania, and for the European future of this country,” Berisha wrote, concluding the invitation with the call: “Let us stand by the laws and the Constitution of the country, as the only path to restoring the rule of law and integration into the EU.”
