The meeting between the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, and the President of the Special Court, Erion Bani, was held yesterday, the embassy said in a statement. It noted that in addition to the visit to the recently reconstructed EU-funded building, discussions also focused on the role of justice in strengthening public trust and raising standards to meet EU standards.

The topic of the conversation between the ambassador and the head of the GJKKO is further emphasized, where investment in judicial infrastructure is also highlighted.

“We visited the building of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, which is funded by the EU and has recently been reconstructed to meet the highest EU standards. We welcome the fact that 80% of the reconstruction cost was financed through the reuse of confiscated assets.
During the visit, the Acting President of the Special Court of First Instance, Judge Erion Bani, and the EU Ambassador, Silvio Gonzato, discussed the Court's role in strengthening public trust in the justice system and in maintaining high standards in decision-making.
The EU Ambassador also stressed that improving the standards of judicial infrastructure should remain a priority throughout Albania, to guarantee security, transparency and access to justice.
