The battle with the flames in the Lura forest massif has been ongoing for more than 24 hours. It is reported that around 260 forces are on the ground, including employees of the Dibër Municipality, Civil Emergencies, fire services, Army forces and the Police.
The Director of the Administration of Protected Areas, Dibër, Leonard Topuzi, says that for more than 24 hours, numerous forces have been working to bring the fire under control, while the difficult mountainous terrain makes it difficult for vehicles and firefighters to intervene.
Two helicopters have also arrived to assist in the operation, intervening from the air to extinguish the fires.
During the night, the forces on the ground continued their work without interruption. According to Topuz, together with the employees of the Municipality of Dibër and the Mayor, Rahim Spahiu, it was possible to protect 5 houses, as well as 2 livestock farms, where about 400 heads of small cattle were located.
The firefighting operation continues, while forces on the ground are working to isolate the fires and prevent the flames from spreading further.
