A large-scale fire, which broke out in the Malasej area of Cërrik, has been extinguished after the intervention of firefighting forces, preventing the flames from spreading to homes and one of the city's important water supply sources.
The fire has engulfed about 2 hectares of land, while the material damage is considerable, as it is reported that about 250 olive trees have been burned.
The situation was particularly worrying due to the proximity of the fire to several homes, as well as to the water tank that supplies the city of Cerrik. The spread of flames towards these buildings posed a direct risk, but the timely intervention of the fire service made it possible to isolate and extinguish the fire.
3 firefighting vehicles and 11 firefighters were deployed in the firefighting operation, working to neutralize the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas.
According to preliminary data, it is suspected that the fire may have been caused by an electrical spark coming from the power line, while the final cause is expected to be determined after relevant verifications.
Despite the size of the fire and the danger posed to homes and water supply infrastructure, the intervention of firefighters prevented the flames from advancing towards residential areas.
After extinguishing the fire, on-site structures continued to monitor to ensure that there is no reactivation of the fires.
