They built bridges in post-war Albania but were executed for a swamp. History, however, still refers to them as saboteurs, and the credit for this goes to communist propaganda that is still spread through films today.

A meeting on the film "The Early Years" pitted facts against propaganda. The films of the former Kinostudio continue to face criticism for the communist propaganda they convey.

The Film Club "Learning from the Past" established by the Authority of Files, screened the film "The Early Years" and discussed with young people the historical manipulation that it conveys through the mud of the engineers of the Maliqi Swamp, who are still considered saboteurs. For the Authority, films confront documents.

While a statement by researcher Sonila Boçi was read, arguing that the punishment of Maliqi's engineers was part of the justifications for the failures of the communist regime, the grandson of engineer Abdyl Sharra requested the screening of the films with a clarification that prohibits the smearing and accusing of engineers as traitors to the country.

He listed the bridges built by engineers who were executed as traitors and saboteurs by the communist regime.

Abdyl Sharra, Kujtim Beqiri, Vasil Mano and Zyrika Mano were the engineers involved in draining the Maliqi Marsh. After a few days of trial, presided over by a lieutenant colonel and two military captains, a 4-page decision, without legal arguments, sentenced them to death for not draining the marsh.

The film club displayed archival documents and analyses by historical and art scholars, bringing their perspectives on the ideology and art of cinema.
