The image of Mark Kapedani, realized by Marubi, marks the work “Dypërnjahja” by Orestia Kapedani. In villa 31, which was once the dictator’s house, that photograph constitutes the connecting thread of a work that connects family history with the collective one, in the exhibition “Geography of Care”. Orestia herself dwells on territories that become memories and images as evidence.

For Olsi Hoxha, villa 31, required a site-specific work. Thus comes his “Golden Fish”, a work that is in itself a sound installation centered on the dictator’s piano. Like the water of a river that is never the same, without memory or return. The sounds of the installation are interrupted only by the sounds of the piano, as a manifestation of the ego, a force that demands control.

“Geography of Care” brings together three artists, including Mariana Kostandini, to explore borders and put the sadness of loss into perspective, with an approach that embraces compassion and protection. The exhibition, opened as part of Europe Week, also tells the story of a relationship in which loss does not disappear, but continues to shape the way we perceive and experience places, memories and each other.
