It was a pleasure to meet with the Ambassador of Spain to Albania, Gabriel Cremades, where we jointly appreciated the excellent relations between our two countries, emphasizing the need for even closer cooperation in several areas.

I thanked the Ambassador for the support that Spain provides to our country on the path to membership in the European Union, but I emphasized the opposition's concern that at the foundation of this process must be respect for the rule of law and the implementation of democratic standards of governance.

I reaffirmed my support for the public position of the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, Mr. McAllister, that "the Balluku case constitutes a critical test for Albania in its respect for justice reform and in the seriousness of the fight against corruption."

The Democratic Party and the opposition are ready to do everything so that Albania has institutions that function according to the law and free and fair elections, which guarantee political rotation through the vote of the citizens.
