"It is the citizens who have taken the protest into their own hands," said Ermal Hasimja as he commented on the protest that has been going on for 66 days against Prime Minister Edi Rama.
He said that the protest is very valuable for democracy in the country. Regarding the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, he said that his intention is to continue with the manipulations.
"The main message it conveyed is that citizens are not willing to tolerate any abuse and this is a message for the current government. So it is also a signal that in the future citizens will rise up to protest any problem."
"The interpretation that Rama and the government are trying to make is manipulative. But this interpretation that they are protesting that they suddenly became Norwegians is baseless. And it is simply directed at the SP and their supporters, but it does not work on those who come out to protest," he said.
He also emphasized that the protest demands that Rama be brought to justice.
"Change also comes by doing something new. There may be new attempts to create a new political force. Mr. Rama's stance on the issue is linked to other interests that are not legitimate interests of the Albanian citizen. This government has become a guarantor for the privatization of Albania for a small handful. All those who are ready with knives and forks to get a bite would not want Rama to leave. There is pressure in the public administration, cooperation with organized crime and endless problems with the media sphere. The protest has served as a catalyst. Rama has started to lose MPs, some small revolt from Braçe, dissatisfaction from Spiropali. So Mr. Rama is strong to the point that he will be overthrown... The protest has an extraordinary role because it gave courage to the people and proved that 800 thousand votes are not there. I think Mr. Rama reads it exactly like this, and what he says is clear that it is not so, but he needs a doctrine to justify this uprising because "It's not just a protest but also within the SP," he said.
Regarding the DP and its stance, he said that he received a clear message from this protest, as there is also dissatisfaction with the opposition.
"It has not risen to the task of being an alternative force. The DP but also the new parties, we know that there are democrats who come out on the streets, even though the call Rama in prison, Berisha in prison, the second part may be annoying. But we can say that the DP has made some reflections," he said.
