Former prosecutor Besnik Muçi has described the debate on the increase in salaries for magistrates as artificial, where Prime Minister Edi Rama has also become the protagonist in this discussion. Muçi said in the lunch program on News24 that once lovers of justice were in favor of increasing the salaries of magistrates, while today they debate to divert attention from other issues.
He said that the request of prosecutors and judges is legitimate.
"When I hear this kind of debate, I say where did those great lovers of justice, of vetting, go! They 'bombarded' citizens that they want new justice, and today they have become enemies of justice. Everyone was for the new justice and today they say; the reform has failed. But these people made this reform. It is a legitimate request from judges and prosecutors. Their salaries should be indexed. The reference is not with the gross salary, but the salary of the Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Office. If the reference salary increases, why not the judge's salary increase. When you were a lover of reform, you had set his salary, while today you don't. This is a debate to divert attention from other events. Every time the reference salary increases, the judges' salary will increase. This is to divert attention from justice.", he claimed.
