The Special Court postponed the trial against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa and several other defendants to July 7.
The reason was the absence of lawyer Plarent Ndreca, who defends the interests of the local official, who had submitted a medical report to the trial panel stating that he was unable to participate in the trial due to health reasons.
Erion Veliaj is being tried at the GJKKO on charges of corruption, money laundering, concealment of assets, and abuse of office. He has been held in detention since February 10, 2025.
