Residents of the village of Boshanj in Kolonjë are raising concerns about the extensive damage to agriculture caused by locust colonies, demanding immediate intervention from responsible institutions. The locusts have damaged various agricultural crops, while vineyards and hazelnut plantations are also at risk.

According to them, the phenomenon has been repeated for the third year in a row, and this season the damages are greater than in previous years.

Farmers say that a year's worth of investments are being lost in a few days and that the spraying carried out so far has not yielded results. They add that many families risk being left without produce for consumption and without the food base for livestock during the winter.

After concerns were raised by residents of Boshanj in Kolonjë, News24 inquired with the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, an institution that is aware of the situation, but has not yet intervened on the ground.
